About the role
The Learner Services team are now looking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Learning Support Practitioner to join the well-established team. This is a fast-paced and diverse role, in which you will work closely with Lecturers and Directors of Teaching, Learning and Quality to provide high quality support to learners with SEN needs.
As a Learning Support Practitioner, you will play a vital role in helping learners achieve their full potential by providing effective, personalised support that meets their individual needs. You will contribute to creating a positive, engaging and inclusive learning environment where learners can thrive academically, socially and personally. Working closely with teaching staff, you will help ensure that each learner’s educational experience is varied, enjoyable and focused on achieving both their primary learning objectives and any additional developmental goals. The role also involves maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of the support provided, ensuring learner progress is effectively monitored and celebrated throughout their learning journey.
About the person
The successful candidate will be a passionate and supportive individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building positive relationships with learners, colleagues and wider support networks. You will have experience of supporting learning within a teaching, training, practical or workplace environment and be committed to helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their ambitions.
You will be patient, adaptable and able to respond to the varying needs of learners, providing encouragement and guidance to help them develop both academically and personally. A proactive approach, strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are essential, alongside a genuine commitment to promoting an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Candidates should also have:
- L3 Vocational qualification
- Prior experience working with young people
- ICT competency
