Job Description:
B.J. Waters (Transport) Limited is a family run haulage company based out of three depots across the Midlands, transporting customers goods throughout the UK and Europe.
We are seeking an experienced Garage Manager at our Ripley depot to oversee operations within our garage for our HGV fleet. The successful candidate must display a solid mechanical knowledge with strong organisational skills and be capable of managing a team, ensuring safety standards are maintained, and coordinating maintenance and repairs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily workshop activities, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
- Coordinate maintenance, repairs, and servicing of a variety of Heavy Goods Vehicles and Trailers.
- Manage inventory levels of parts through direct dealings with suppliers, allocating parts accordingly.
- Lead and motivate workshop staff, providing guidance and training as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
- Schedule workloads whilst maintaining quality standards.
- Conduct regular inspections of tools, equipment, and workspaces to uphold safety and operational standards.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a maintaining and repairing HGV trucks and trailers in a commercial vehicle workshop.
- Fault finding skills across mechanical systems and vehicles electrical diagnostics.
- Proficiency in the use of hand tools, power tools, and basic workshop machinery.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to lead teams and coordinate with other departments.
- Ability to maintain high safety standards and promote a safe working environment.
- Relevant qualifications or certifications – HGV Technician with a City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent).
