We are looking for an Apprentice Prep Technician to join the paint department at our Watford factory. This is an entry-level role and full training is given, so no previous experience is required.
We make fitted furniture to order and paint our own doors and panels in-house. The role is to prepare those panels to a high standard before they are painted, and to support the spray operator on the line. The quality of the finish depends on the prep, so it is an important job and one you can build a genuine trade around.
The role
- Sanding, filling, masking and priming panels ready for paint
- Checking each surface for defects before it goes to the spray line
- Assisting the spray operator to run panels through the machine
- Loading, unloading and packing panels safely
- Keeping the prep and spray area clean and organised
- Following all health and safety procedures
- Working to production deadlines
What we are looking for
- A genuine interest in furniture making and manufacturing
- Good attention to detail and pride in the work
- Reliable, punctual and prepared to work hard
- Willing to learn and take on new skills
- Speaking Ukrainian, Russian or Polish is an advantage, as much of the team does, though it is not required
The reality of the job
The day starts at 7am on the factory floor. It is hands-on and physical, with a lot of sanding, and you will be on your feet in a working workshop. In return you will be trained properly by people who have done the job for years and will finish with a real, practical skill.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Apprenticeship
Pay: From £13.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
