Goat Ledge is a vibrant, very busy, colourful beach cafe, offering locally sourced, high quality food and drink. The menu is based around local seafood and also vegan offerings. In the summer periods we will look to offer a BBQ and Paella on busy days.
The kitchen is run by the Head Chef and service will be run by them or a Lead Chef.
CHEF JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for summer chefs to work in this fun and fast paced kitchen.
The Person
- Love of food and interest in the hospitality industry
- Willingness to learn and ambition to do the best you can
- A friendly and approachable manner
- A flexible, can do attitude
- Ability to stay calm under pressure
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Some experience in high-volume kitchens is desirable.
- Food Hygiene certificate desirable
The role and responsibilities
- Chopping and preparing of seafood and vegetables - get to grips with the fundamentals of cooking, such as knife skills. This may involve understanding the basic cuts, as well as learning how to handle ingredients correctly
- Grilling, frying and assembling of dishes conducted at speed
- Customer facing
- Taking daily measures to prevent food cross-contamination
- Willingness to listen to instructions and work as a team player when preparing dishes and coordinating meal service
- Organisational skills to maintain an orderly workspace and kitchen
- Knowledge of safe food handling requirements and food safety temperatures, allergens
- Maintaining correct storage, rotation and labelling
- Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods of time when cooking and preparing food
- Willingness to work required shifts, i.e., breakfast rush, weekends and so on
- Comprehension skills when reading order tickets and recipes
- Hand-eye coordination when using kitchen tools and cooking utensils
