We are looking for an experienced and reliable Machine Operator to join our production team in Jarrow. This is a hands-on role within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment where safety, quality, and efficiency are key.
The Role
As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and maintaining production machinery while ensuring products are manufactured safely and to the required quality standards.
You will work closely with Production, Technical, Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure production targets are achieved and downtime is minimised.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate production and packaging machinery safely and efficiently.
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments where necessary.
- Carry out routine machine checks and basic maintenance activities.
- Identify and report faults or breakdowns to the Engineering team.
- Ensure production targets, quality standards, and efficiency levels are achieved.
- Complete production paperwork and record information accurately.
- Conduct product quality checks and escalate any issues.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping and hygiene standards.
- Follow all GMP, HACCP, Health & Safety, and Food Safety procedures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the production area.
- Assist with changeovers and product swaps as required.
Essential
- Previous experience as a Machine Operator within a manufacturing environment.
- Good understanding of machine operation and production processes.
- Strong awareness of Health & Safety requirements.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot basic machine faults.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work different shift patterns when required.
- Good attention to detail and quality standards.
Desirable
- Food manufacturing experience.
- Packaging machine experience.
- Knowledge of GMP, HACCP and Food Safety standards.
- Experience working within a chilled or high-care environment.
- Mechanical aptitude or engineering awareness.

Pay: £12.71-£14.50 per hour
