Care Assistant – Residential Care Home (Adults with Learning Disabilities)

Job Overview
We are looking for a compassionate, proactive Care Assistant to join our small, dedicated team supporting adults with learning disabilities. You will provide high-quality, person-centred care that promotes independence, dignity, and well-being in a warm, safe, and respectful home environment. This is a rewarding paid role where you can make a genuine difference every day while developing your skills with full training and support.
Main Duties
- Assist residents with all aspects of personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support, following individual care plans
- Support personal hygiene, health routines, and medication administration (training provided)
- Prepare and cook meals, assist with feeding where needed, and respect dietary requirements and preferences
- Provide companionship, emotional support, and meaningful engagement to enhance quality of life
- Carry out domestic tasks such as cleaning, tidying personal spaces, and laundry to help maintain a comfortable home environment
- Maintain accurate records of care given, including progress notes and care plan updates
- Communicate effectively with residents, colleagues, and families to ensure consistent, high-quality care
- Work flexibly across shifts as required
Hours
Mostly daytime shifts (approximately 8am–5pm), with some evening and night shifts required. Full details discussed at interview.
Essential Requirements
- Excellent communication skills in English (Welsh language skills preferred)
- Full clean driving licence (essential for the role)
- Willingness to register with Social Care Wales (support provided if not already registered)
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to support adults with learning disabilities
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team
- Good physical fitness to assist with personal care and mobility, support residents to participate in staying fit.
- Basic IT skills for recording care notes
Desirable
- Level 2 qualification in Health & Social Care.

Pay: £12.71-£13.50 per hour
