Are you a passionate Early Years Practitioner who feels ready to take the next step and run your own nursery?
Townley House Independent Nursery is looking for someone to take the lead at our small, term-time setting in Bamber Bridge.
You do not necessarily need to have been a Nursery Manager before.
We are much more interested in finding someone who is confident, organised, passionate about Early Years and ready to take on more responsibility.
If you are an experienced practitioner, Room Leader or Deputy Manager who has been thinking about making the step into management, Townley House could be an ideal place to do it.
A great first step into management
Townley House has a maximum capacity of just 22 children aged 2 to 4, all within one room.
That makes this very different from taking over a large nursery with several rooms, dozens of staff and 80 or 100 children.
You will have responsibility for your own setting, but it is still small enough for you to know every child, work closely with your team and remain involved in the nursery day.
It is a hands-on Manager role and you will work within the room as part of the team.
You will also have support from our family and the wider nursery group, so although this is your nursery to lead, you will have experienced people around you to ask for advice and support.
For someone looking for their first management position, we think it is a great setting to find your feet, build your confidence and learn how to run a nursery.
The role
As Nursery Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of Townley House.
This will include:
- Leading and supporting the nursery team
- Being actively involved with the children within the room
- Making sure children receive a high standard of care and Early Years education
- Taking responsibility for safeguarding within the setting
- Making sure the nursery continues to meet EYFS and Ofsted requirements
- Supporting planning, observations and children's development
- Building good relationships with parents and families
- Organising staffing and the day-to-day running of the nursery
- Keeping the setting safe, organised and welcoming
- Supporting and developing your team
- Working closely with the wider nursery group
We are not looking for someone who wants to sit in an office all day. Townley House is a small setting and the Manager is very much part of nursery life.
Who we are looking for
You must hold a full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification.
Previous management experience would be useful, but it is not essential.
You may currently be a:
- Deputy Nursery Manager
- Room Leader
- Senior Early Years Practitioner
- Experienced Level 3 Practitioner who is ready for more responsibility
What matters most to us is that you are organised, dependable and genuinely care about providing a good nursery experience for children and their families.
You should be comfortable making decisions, supporting colleagues and taking responsibility for the setting.
You will also need a good understanding of the EYFS and safeguarding. We can support you with developing the management side of the role.

The position is also term-time only, so the nursery operates for 38 weeks of the year and you are not working throughout the school holidays.
Pay, hours and benefits
- £14.00 to £15.00 per hour, depending on experience
