Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing project costs, preparing accurate estimates, and supporting the organisation in delivering competitive bids. Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Attend site meetings and scoping exercises.
- Interpret the project requirements from drawings and specifications.
- Obtain sub-contract and material prices.
- Use of Causeway Estimating and measuring software.
- Contribute to programme discussions for tendering purposes.
- Handover to contract delivery team.
- Answer queries and assist contract team where required.
Knowledge / Experience / Qualifications
- Previous experience of an estimating environment is preferred.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings.
- Good Microsoft / all around IT skills.
- Previous Causeway / other estimating software is advantageous.
- Willingness to learn and contribute to the estimating and wider team.
Responsibilities
- Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to prepare precise cost estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers, suppliers, and subcontractors to gather relevant pricing information.
- Develop detailed budgets and forecasts to support bid submissions.
- Monitor project costs throughout the lifecycle to ensure adherence to budgets and identify potential overruns early.
- Assist in the evaluation of supplier and subcontractor quotations, ensuring competitive pricing without compromising quality.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for internal review and client submission.
- Maintain organised records of all estimates, assumptions, and supporting documentation for future reference.
