Role: Mental Health Act and Clinical Administration Officer
Location: St Matthews Hospital & The Dallingtons (Cross-Site Role)
Salary: £25,755 per annum (DOE)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
About Us
St Matthews Healthcare is a specialist provider of mental health and rehabilitation services, committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care. We are looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented Mental Health Act and Clinical Administration Officer to support our Mental Health Act compliance and clinical administration functions across St Matthews Hospital and The Dallingtons.
Main Duties
The successful candidate will:
- Maintain Mental Health Act records, documentation, audits and compliance processes.
- Coordinate Hospital Managers' Hearings and support Mental Health Act administration.
- Act as a key contact for Ministry of Justice correspondence relating to restricted patients.
- Coordinate and maintain CPA reviews and ward round schedules.
- Support multidisciplinary teams by arranging meetings, preparing documentation and tracking actions.
- Maintain accurate patient records and reporting systems.
- Produce compliance and governance reports.
- Support regulatory inspections including CQC requirements.
- Liaise with clinicians, advocacy services, community teams, commissioners and external stakeholders.
Essential Requirements
- Experience in an administrative role within healthcare, social care, legal services or a similar environment.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly when handling sensitive or regulated documentation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Confident using Microsoft Office and electronic record systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience working with Mental Health Act processes.
- Experience supporting CPA reviews, MDT meetings or clinical administration.
- Experience within a mental health or hospital environment.
- Knowledge of advocacy services and patient rights under the Mental Health Act.
