£23,794 per annum (pro-rata if part-time)
Part-time and Full-time options available between 10 to 36 hours per week. Work schedules are flexible between the hours of 05:00-19:00, Monday to Friday; hours worked can be between 2 to 8 per day.
Overall purpose:
As a valued member of our Domestic Services team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB).
Main duties/ Key responsibilities:
We maintain a high standard of cleanliness across all areas for our scientific/administrative staff and visitors.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Emptying bins and replacing liners
- Waste segregation and maximising recycling
- Vacuuming and sweeping floors
- Mopping floors and operating cleaning machinery
- Polishing surfaces
- Cleaning sanitary areas, including kitchenettes and toilets
- Topping up hand towel and soap dispensers
- Dusting
- Glass cleaning
- Providing cover during staff sickness and holidays
Working relationships:
You will report directly to the Domestic Services Manager and/or Domestic Services Supervisors, working collaboratively as part of a professional and supportive team.
Education / qualifications / training required:
Essential:
- General standard of education.
- Willingness to undertake on the job training.
Previous work experience required:
Desirable : Previous cleaning experience.
Knowledge and experience:
Desirable : Knowledge of cleaning techniques.

Essential:
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
- Proven skills in working efficiently and effectively with minimum supervision.
