Job Title: Narrow Blanking Line Operator
Reporting to: Operations Manager / Works supervisor / Team Leader
Responsible for: Production of steel and aluminium blanks
Knowledge/Experience Required:
Candidates must have:
- Experience operating a Narrow Blanking Line or similar steel processing machinery.
- Experience within steel processing, coil processing or metal manufacturing.
- Confidence using micrometers, Vernier calipers and other dimensional measuring equipment.
- Experience using overhead cranes.
- A good understanding of quality standards and manufacturing tolerances.
- The ability to follow works instructions and customer specifications accurately.
- Good attention to detail and a reliable, flexible approach to work.
We will also consider experienced steel processing line operators with transferable skills who are willing to train on the Narrow Blanking Line.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
- Setting and running of a Narrow Blanking Line
HEALTH &SAFETY
- Follow all company Safe Systems of Work and Risk Assessments.
- Complete required safety checks at the start of each shift.
- Operate machinery and overhead cranes safely and responsibly.
- Report hazards, defects or unsafe conditions promptly.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
KEY FUNCTIONS CONTAINED WITHIN THE ROLE
- Set and operate the Narrow Blanking Line safely and efficiently.
- Load coils onto the line using overhead cranes and process material to customer specifications.
- Carry out dimensional and quality checks using micrometers, Vernier calipers and other measuring equipment.
- Accurately complete production, quality and shift records.
- Weigh, label and record finished material using the company’s PCI software.
- Report quality, mechanical or safety concerns promptly.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working area.
a) Your normal days of work are Monday to Friday.
b) Your normal hours of work on each day of work are 6.00 am to 4.15pm Monday to Thursday and 6.00 am to 12.00pm on Friday. You will be paid 40 hours @ basic rate and 6 hours @ your overtime rate any additional hours will be paid as overtime.
PAYMENT OF SALARY
- Your starting basic wages will be £14.00 per hour, overtime is £21 per hour. Will raise to £14.88 P/H once probation period has been completed.
- Time bonus of £15 per week (subject to completing a full week). You will be paid weekly in arrears on Friday of each week by bank transfer. Any change to your wages will be notified to you.
PROBATIONARY PERIOD
- The first 6 months of your employment will be a probationary period during which time your performance and conduct will be monitored
