Kerr's is growing. We need people who want to grow with it.
Commercial Tyre Fitter (HGV), £32,000 rising to £34,000 | Antrim | Full time, Permanent
Kerr's Tyres started as one man's idea, to run tyre and auto centres properly, treat customers and colleagues right, and the rest follows. Norman Kerr had that idea over twenty years ago, and he's still leading the business today. What's new is the backing, fresh investment to take that same model and scale it across Ireland and the UK. Commercial work is a big part of that growth, and this role is at the sharp end of it.
THE OPPORTUNITY, IN NUMBERS
- Founder led since day one. Norman Kerr still runs the business he built
- Backed by new investment to fund UK and Ireland wide growth
- Farmer Autocare's 21 Scottish centres joined the group in 2026
- Building towards 50+ centres in Ireland and 250 across the UK and Ireland
- Hiring around 20 roles across the Ireland part of the group right now, because we're growing
What the job really is
Straight talk: this is proper work. You'll be lifting heavy commercial tyres, working outdoors in all weathers, and heading out to roadside breakdowns where a driver is stuck and waiting on you. If you like being the person who sorts it, you'll enjoy this job. And on the breakdown side, it's your van, your route and your call. You get the independence of the road, with a full depot and team behind you when you need them.
What you'll do
- Check, remove, replace and repair tyres on HGVs, cars, vans and other commercial vehicles
- Repair punctures and set correct pressures, carry out balancing, alignment and tracking
- Respond to roadside breakdowns quickly and safely, with the van and equipment to do the job right
- Load and unload tyres, deliveries and equipment safely
- Advise customers on keeping their tyres in good, legal condition, and record your work accurately
What you'll bring
- Experience fitting, balancing and repairing tyres
- A working understanding of tyre types, load ratings, pressure specs and legal tread requirements
- A valid driving licence
- The physical fitness to lift heavy tyres and work outdoors in all conditions
- Reliability, punctuality and always putting the customer first
- Desirable: 1 year or more in a similar role, mobile or roadside experience, especially with HGVs
What you'll earn
£32,000, rising to £34,000 once your training is complete and signed off.
Plus a bonus, paid monthly in arrears, against clear monthly targets: hit 100% of target and you earn £750 that month, hit 120% and that rises to £1,500. Keep hitting 120% consistently and that's £18,000 in bonus across the year, a realistic £52,000 in total once your training is complete and you're performing at the top of the range. We'll show you exactly how it's calculated, and back you with regular coaching so hitting it is realistic, not theoretical.
Plus breakdown callout rota (approximately every 3 to 4 weeks depending on centre and staffing): £28 per week standby fee, paid whether or not you're called out, plus £50 per breakdown callout on top. Last year, people in this role earned an average of £5000 in breakdown callouts, in addition to salary and bonus.
Where it can take you
