Duties
- Direct and coordinate the movement of trucks, trailers, and other vehicles within the yard to ensure safe and efficient operations
- Control access to the yard by verifying credentials of drivers, visitors, and contractors, maintaining security protocols
- Assist delivery drivers with parking, backing, and positioning of flatbed trucks or other specialized vehicles
- Conduct visual inspections of vehicles and equipment for safety compliance and mechanical issues
- Communicate effectively with drivers, warehouse staff, and management to facilitate smooth logistics flow
- perform routine fence checks and yard audits
- Report damage, hazards and maintenance issues
- Maintain accurate logs of vehicle movements, deliveries, and incidents for record-keeping purposes
Skills
- Proven experience in warehouse operations or yard management with a focus on safety and organization
- Strong communication skills to liaise confidently with drivers, team members, and management
- Knowledge of commercial driving principles,
- Delivery driver experience is highly valued for understanding logistics workflows
- Mechanical knowledge to identify basic vehicle issues and support maintenance needs
- Experience operating or coordinating with flatbed trucks or similar specialized vehicles
- Familiarity with warehouse environments and safety protocols related to vehicle movement and yard security
- Comfortable working outdoors in a fast-paced environment
Pay: £12.74-£15.00 per hour
