We are seeking a dedicated Groundsperson / Farm Hand to join our team in maintaining and caring for our agricultural and landscape areas. This role involves hands-on work in landscape maintenance, gardening, and general farm duties, requiring physical stamina and a keen eye for detail. The successful candidate will play a vital part in ensuring the upkeep of our grounds, utilising a variety of tools and machinery to support sustainable farm and landscape operations. Experience in horticulture, construction, or mechanical maintenance is highly desirable, along with a proactive attitude and a strong work ethic.
Responsibilities
- Carry out landscape maintenance tasks including mowing, pruning, planting, and fertilising to ensure attractive and healthy grounds.
- Operate power tools, hand tools, irrigation systems, and construction equipment such as excavators safely and efficiently.
- Perform routine maintenance on machinery and equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety standards are met.
- Assist with construction projects related to farm infrastructure or landscape development as needed.
- Support gardening activities by planting new flora, mulching beds, and managing pest control measures.
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas, ensuring tools and equipment are stored correctly after use.
- Monitor the health of plants and crops, applying horticultural knowledge to promote growth and vitality.
- Collaborate with team members to complete daily tasks effectively while adhering to safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in landscape maintenance, gardening, horticulture or construction is advantageous.
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to operate power tools, hand tools, irrigation systems, and excavators safely.
- Familiarity with maintenance procedures for farm equipment and machinery.
- Practical skills in using gardening implements and construction materials.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining attention to detail.
- Physical fitness to perform manual labour including lifting, digging, and operating machinery over extended periods.
- A proactive approach with good organisational skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Relevant certifications or training in horticulture or machinery operation will be considered an asset.
