Overview
Walton Street Cycles is expanding, and we are seeking a dedicated and hardworking individual to join our busy team.
The role offered is an apprenticeship position focusing on all aspects of the bicycle industry predominately in the shop front but also bicycle repairs. It will be based within our main shop and workshop in Oxford.
We are looking for someone who wants to develop their career within the cycle industry and gain valuable experience in a forward-thinking cycle shop and hire business. The role will entail working directly within our busy shop, where you will learn all aspects of the industry, repairing bikes, maintain a hire fleet and assisting with cycling holidays. The successful candidate will work closely with the sales manager liaise with customers and keep shop stocked and presentable at all times.
Overall, we want someone friendly and hardworking who has a genuine passion for cycling. We are a sociable bunch and have fun while we work.
We specialise in all types of bikes and cycling, and we get to see all the latest product on the market as well as very early technology. We take pride in being able to fix anything.
Our current new bike brands include; Brompton, Scott, Ridgeback, Genesis, Pashley, Kona, Gazelle, Dawes, Claud Butler, Roland & PUKY but take pride in being able to fix anything.
Responsibilities
- Helping customers with all general enquiries, including;
- New & Used bike sales
- Accessory sales
- Assessing and booking in workshop repairs
- Booking & renting hire bikes
- Booking & helping tours leave
- Cash handling
- Ensuring shop display is stocked and presentable
- Maintaining awareness of current product technology
- Assisting shop supervisor with daily tasks
- Ensuring new bike stock levels maintained
- Opening and closing
- Updating social media posts for shop related things
- Window display refreshed regularly
- Workshop repairs

We are Oxfordshire’s oldest bicycle shop; we are proud of our heritage and always strive to provide our customers with a great experience. We run a very busy shop, rental fleet, tours and workshop taking pride in our repairs, we believe in honest hard work and providing ongoing training and development skills for all members of staff – we want our team to be the best and invest in achieving this.
We are an accredited Shimano Service Centre and premium Shimano Electric bike service centre. We have the best equipped and largest workshop in Oxford.
Working Hours & holiday
- Full time, Tues to Fri 08:40 - 17:30, Sat 09:00 - 17:00
- Holiday entitlement is 28 days calculated pro-rota. We are open bank holidays and anytime off will need to be booked in

- Used bikes can be sold through the shop but must be completed in personal time and offered with a 3-month guarantee.

Pay: £15,800.00-£19,000.00 per year
