Head Chef
Hourly Salary from £18 -20 per hour depending on experience.
Hours: 40 hours per week (usually daytime), working 5 out of 7 operational days of the week, occasional evening special events. Weekends are an essential part of the role.
The Heron Farm Shop & Kitchen is a family-run farm diversification on our farm near Strathaven, South Lanarkshire (approx. 4 miles from Strathaven).
The Heron is open 7 days a week serving breakfasts, brunch, lunch, delicious homemade cakes and desserts, and more ….all prepared with fresh and seasonal ingredients by our Kitchen team. The Heron has capacity for 85 covers inside, with further outside seating.
We are now looking for a HEAD CHEF to lead the Kitchen Team – this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of the Heron team taking our business forward.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the Directors, as Head Chef you will be fully accountable for creating and delivering a menu that helps us to achieve our Mission.

· We are seeking a positive and energetic individual to lead the kitchen team. The team plans, prepares and cooks our fantastic home cooked food using the highest quality local and seasonal ingredients. Our chefs are key to maintaining our award-winning service.

YOU
- Are an experienced Chef with experience of managing a kitchen and can demonstrate the ability to deliver through leading and motivating your team
- Are committed to what we do here at the Heron with a passion for creating fresh, local, and seasonal dishes
- Have the ability to produce food in large quantities to a consistent standard, working in a busy service
- Can demonstrate an understanding of the challenges that this environment offers and the work ethic required to meet those challenges
- Will be accountable for cost management, working within our framework to ensure
- Have proven experience of HACCP systems, a recognised Level 3 Food Safety qualification and Allergen training
- Have the enthusiasm and commitment to help drive the business forward
· You must be creative, motivated and assertive and be prepared to take your work to the next level.
· You must love cooking and have your sleeves rolled up ready!
