The Transport Systems Specialist sits within the IT team and works in close partnership with the Transport team to support and continually improve ATL's transport management system (Qargo) and associated transport technologies. The role acts as the key link between IT and Transport, managing Qargo support tickets, monitoring software updates and releases, and working with the IT team and software trainer to identify, plan and implement improvements. The successful candidate will combine transport/logistics knowledge with strong systems aptitude, problem-solving skills and the ability to translate operational requirements into practical system improvements.
Qargo Ticket Management & Support
- Act as the first point of contact for Qargo-related queries, faults and change requests.
- Log, triage, prioritise and manage support tickets through to resolution.
- Track ticket volumes, recurring issues and resolution times.
- Maintain knowledge records, workarounds and fixes.
Software Updates & Release Management
- Monitor Qargo software updates, releases and roadmap announcements.
- Review release notes and assess operational impact.
- Recommend useful new features and enhancements.
- Coordinate testing before updates go live.
Implementation & Continuous Improvement
- Work with the IT team and software trainer to implement new features and configuration changes.
- Configure and maintain Qargo settings, workflows and user setup.
- Identify opportunities to streamline transport processes.
- Support data quality within Qargo.
Collaboration & Communication
- Act as the bridge between IT and Transport.
- Support users and communicate planned changes and downtime.
Reporting & Data
- Build reports and dashboards.
- Support integrations with other ATL systems.
Compliance & Security
- Ensure compliance with company policies and data protection requirements.
- Escalate data security or confidentiality concerns.
Experience Requirements
- Experience with a Transport Management System (Qargo desirable) or similar operational software.
- Understanding of transport, logistics or warehousing operations.
- Experience managing system support tickets/helpdesk environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Confident working with data, reports and system configuration.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
Qualifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
- Relevant IT, systems or transport qualification desirable but not essential.
- GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
