Maintenance Assistant
Thyme, Southrop
We’re looking for a skilled and hands-on Maintenance Assistant to join our busy Maintenance team at Thyme.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you’ll play an important role in keeping our hotel, guest areas and facilities safe, welcoming and running smoothly. No two days will be the same, and you’ll need a practical, can-do approach and the ability to react quickly to whatever the day brings.
Your work will directly contribute to our guests having an exceptional experience, from check-in to check-out and everything in between.
What you’ll be doing
- Carrying out daily checks and maintenance procedures, including moving bins, fire alarm testing, checking plant rooms and boilers.
- Responding to maintenance requests from guests and team members, ensuring bedrooms and guest areas are ready to welcome guests.
- Carrying out a wide range of practical tasks, which could include fixing leaks, changing lightbulbs, painting, moving furniture, basic plumbing, changing locks, unblocking drains and assisting with boiler issues.
- Working closely with Front of House and other teams to ensure jobs are completed promptly and with minimal disruption to our guests.
- Identifying potential maintenance issues before they become problems.
- Supporting the wider Maintenance team with general upkeep across the estate.
- Prioritising reactive jobs and responding calmly when things don’t go to plan.
What we’re looking for
A can-do attitude – You’re positive, practical and happy to get stuck in.
Practical skills – You have good all-round maintenance skills, ideally with particular experience in an area such as carpentry, painting, plumbing or electrical work.
Great communication – You’re comfortable communicating with colleagues, managers, contractors and guests when required.
Organisation – You can prioritise jobs, manage your time and keep on top of competing demands.
Flexibility – You understand that maintenance can be unpredictable and are happy to respond to changing priorities.
Team spirit – You enjoy being part of a team and are always willing to lend a hand across the business.
The practical stuff
This is a physical, hands-on role and you’ll be required to lift and move items and carry out a range of physical tasks.
The Maintenance department operates 7 days a week, so the role will include evenings and weekends.
Previous experience in hotel or hospitality maintenance would be ideal, but it isn’t essential. Full site-specific training will be provided.
We’re located in a rural location, so your own transport is essential.
