Drum Teacher at Music Learning Collective Derby
Teacher required for delivery of Drums In person, weekly on Saturdays. Ability to play/teach other instruments adventageous but not absolute.

When: Saturdays (10-3pm) + possibility of weekdays (at other locations / in schools)

Job Description: We are seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to join our team at Music Learning Collective Derby each Saturday. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in music performance and should be confident in teaching their main instrument up to grade 5. Additionally, a solid understanding of music theory up to at least grade 5 is required, with preference given to candidates who are confident teaching up to grade 8 in their main instrument, and up to grade 3 in additional instruments. The ability to teach/play other instruments is a bonus but not essential.
Additional Opportunities: In addition to Saturday teaching, there may later be opportunities for more work available during the week at other locations, including within school times and weekday evenings. Successful candidates have gone on to build a substantial portfolio of work with us across multiple sites throughout the week, providing opportunities for professional growth and an increased workload.
Requirements:
- Ability travel to Derby each Saturday for lessons with own vehicle. 42 and Saturdays per year (pre-set dates).
- Confident in teaching up to grade 5 in their main instrument
- Confident in communicating with students of all ages, including young children.
- Strong understanding of music theory up to at least grade 5 (for their main instrument at least)
- Ideally, confidence in teaching up to grade 8.
- Ability to teach other instruments would be a bonus
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- A friendly and patient personality
- Enhanced DBS clearance and the right to work in the UK
Other Details:
- Tutors work under contract on a self-employed basis and should be registered as self-employed with HMRC.
- Experience of working with children of all ages is a bonus.
- Teaching equipment, such as a drum kit, is provided.
- No additional rent or advertising fees to pay.
- The position offers an hourly rate ranging from £19 - £25+ per hour and is available for 42 weeks per year.
- Work offered is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
Training and Mentoring: The position suits an individual looking to get into music education as training and mentoring can be provided. We prioritise a charismatic candidate with the right attitude, a strong instrument performance skillset and knowledge, and excellent communication skills. These attributes will be looked at over teaching experience.
