Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter/Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment. This role is essential for ensuring smooth kitchen operations and assisting with food preparation and service. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for cleanliness, a positive attitude, and an interest in hospitality and culinary arts. Previous experience in food service, restaurant, hotel, or hospitality settings is advantageous but not mandatory, as training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks under supervision to support chefs and kitchen staff
- Ensure all kitchen areas are kept clean, hygienic, and organised in accordance with health and safety standards
- Wash, dry, and store dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment efficiently
- Help with waste disposal and recycling procedures to maintain a tidy workspace
- Support with stock organisation and inventory checks as needed
- Assist in setting up dining areas before service and clearing after service
- Follow all safety protocols to prevent accidents or hazards within the kitchen environment
- Contribute positively to team efforts to deliver excellent customer service
Requirements
- Previous experience in food preparation, cooking, or hospitality is desirable but not essential; willingness to learn is key
- Knowledge of basic kitchen operations and hygiene standards is a plus
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Good organisational skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately
- Flexibility to work shifts as required, including weekends or evenings if necessary
- A proactive attitude with strong teamwork skills
- Basic understanding of health and safety regulations within a kitchen setting
