Location: Norton Canes
Hours: Full-time (average 40 hours per week)
Rota: 3-week rolling rota with sleep-ins
Salary: £13.00 per hour and £50 per sleep in
*Please note that applicants must be aged 21 or over due to the nature of this role.*
About the Role
We’re looking for warm, resilient, and committed Residential Support Workers to join our close-knit team supporting children with learning disabilities. Our children can sometimes display challenging behaviour, so we’re looking for people who are confident, calm, and able to set clear boundaries while still being caring and understanding.
This is a truly rewarding role where no two days are the same, and you’ll be part of a supportive team that really values work–life balance.
Your Working Pattern
We use a 3-week rolling rota designed to give our staff regular rest and fewer weekends. The rota runs all year round and averages 40 hours per week (around 173 hours per month), including team meetings and workshops.
Week 1 – Busy Week
- Sunday: Start at 6pm
- Sleep-ins included (10pm–7am)
- Finish Tuesday at 6pm
- Midweek rest, then return Friday evening and work through to Sunday
Week 2 – Rest & Recharge
- Several days off to fully recharge
- One short overnight shift from Thursday evening into Friday
- Weekend off
Week 3 – Steady Week
- A couple of rest days at the start of the week
- One midweek block of shifts with sleep-ins
- Long weekend before starting again
(Full rota details available on request.)
*Please note: Valid work authorisation for the UK is required for this position*
Our Homes
- You’ll always work as part of a team – never alone
- Staffing levels are 2:1 or 3:1
- We support children with learning disabilities who may show challenging behaviour
- Routine, consistency, and clear boundaries are really important
There may be times when physical intervention is needed, so confidence and experience in this area are important. Full training and ongoing support are provided.
Who We’re Looking For
We’d love to hear from you if you:
- Have experience working with children or young people with learning disabilities
- Are confident, patient, and able to stay calm under pressure
- Understand the importance of routine and boundaries
- Are happy to get stuck in and be part of a supportive team
Relevant qualifications and residential experience are a big plus, but most important is the right attitude and resilience for the role.
What We Offer
- A rota that genuinely supports work–life balance
- Ensuite bathroom for staff use during sleep-ins
- Meals provided while on shift (staff eat with the children)
- Free Bupa healthcare after probation
- Regular team meetings, training, and workshops
- A supportive, welcoming team environment
All successful candidates will be expected to work as part of a team that provides 24/7 on a rota basis. These shift patterns may vary across the service, but they will all include working weekdays, weekends, bank holidays and sleeping in duties (additional payment).
If you’re looking for a meaningful role where you can make a real difference and feel supported along the way, we’d love to hear from you.
