Café Cook / Catering Assistant
Location: Parkgate, Rotherham
We are looking to recruit a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic Café Cook / Catering Assistant to join our busy and growing café team in Parkgate, Rotherham.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in producing quality food, delivers excellent customer service and enjoys being part of a friendly team.
About the Role
This is a varied, hands-on role where you will be responsible for preparing, cooking and serving food, making barista-style coffees and other hot drinks, and helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the café.
You will be expected to work independently as well as alongside other members of the team, maintaining high standards of food quality, cleanliness and customer service at all times.
Working Days
Until the end of September:
From October onwards:
- Thursday
- Friday
- Alternate Saturdays and Sundays
Working Hours
Typical working hours are:
- Thursday & Friday: 7:00am – 2:00pm
- Saturday: 7:00am – 2:00pm (when scheduled)
- Sunday: 7:00am – 4:00pm (when scheduled for our traditional Sunday lunch service)
Flexibility to work weekends is essential.
Additional hours may be available to cover holidays, sickness and busy periods, depending on the needs of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing, cooking and presenting breakfasts, lunches and Sunday lunches to a high standard.
- Assisting with food preparation and ensuring food is ready for service.
- Preparing barista-style coffees, speciality teas and other hot drinks.
- Serving customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, food safety and cleanliness.
- Keeping the kitchen and front-of-house areas clean, organised and well stocked.
- Monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages.
- Receiving and putting away deliveries.
- Delivering customer orders when required.
- Working efficiently as part of the team to provide excellent customer service.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience cooking in a café, kitchen or catering environment.
- Ideally has barista experience and is confident preparing a range of coffees and speciality hot drinks.
- Enjoys working in a busy, customer-focused environment.
- Is reliable, punctual and hardworking.
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Takes pride in producing quality food and providing excellent customer service.
- Holds a Food Hygiene Certificate (desirable, but not essential).
