IASME is committed to helping organisations improve their cyber security through an effective and accessible range of certifications.
A large part of the success of our rapidly growing company is due to the diversity of our team. This allows us to see things differently, approach old problems in a fresh way and offer new solutions.
Fairness and inclusion are central to our business and we bring these values to everything we do.
This role offers a mix of working from home and in the office. A BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check will be required for this role.
We are at an exciting point of organisational restructure whereby our marketing and business development functions, which previously operated as separate teams, are coming together under a single, unified leader.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys building long-term connections with clients, government, and the partner businesses we work with. Success in this role isn’t about high-pressure targets, it’s about helping people and organisations succeed, and growing in a steady, values-led way.
We operate in a collaborative, mission-led environment. A significant part of our work involves delivering services through a network of partner businesses, many of them small, specialist organisations. Our marketing and business development function needs to play a dual role: promoting our own brand and also the government brands we are representing and actively advocating for and supporting these network partners in their own sales and marketing efforts. The Head of Marketing & Business Development will need to understand this ecosystem and champion it. As we have an established relationship with government, experience navigating the tone, timelines, and expectations of the public sector will be an advantage in this role.
Our revenue comes predominantly from certification sales driven by our network, who engage, advise and certify the end customer. We need to balance marketing and business development activities to support all our schemes.
Roles and Responsibilities
Lead and support the team
- Lead the integration of the marketing and business development teams into a cohesive unit with shared goals, processes, and culture.
- Create a team culture where people feel safe to contribute
- Create an environment where different working and thinking styles are genuinely valued, and where every team member understands how their contribution connects to the bigger picture.
- Set clear expectations, support development, and manage performance fairly and thoughtfully
- Handle team challenges calmly and constructively
Marketing & Brand
- Drive a brand awareness strategy that builds credibility and long-term trust, prioritising reputation over short-term conversion metrics.
- Provide strategic campaign management and oversee the team’s development and execution of marketing campaigns, content, and communications that reflect our mission and values.
- Champion the voice and visibility of our network partners through our marketing channels, ensuring they are represented authentically and with pride.
- Develop and deliver support services to help network partners strengthen their own marketing and sales capabilities, from guidance and toolkits to direct mentoring support.
Business Development & Relationships
- Lead relationship-based business development activity, focused on building partnerships, growing trust with key stakeholders, and opening doors.
- Maintain and develop relationships with organisations across a variety of sectors and our network of cyber experts, understanding how to navigate their processes and requirements.
- Identify strategic opportunities for growth that align with organisational values and our network's capacity to deliver.
- Represent the organisation at sector events, forums, and meetings with credibility and warmth.
Strategy & Collaboration
- Balance the needs of schemes that require account management and those that need more business development to grow smaller schemes.
- Work closely with senior leadership to align marketing and business development activity with organisational priorities.
- Set team goals and KPIs that reflect a trust-led, long-term approach to growth.
- Report on performance and market insight in a way that informs strategic decisions.
Experience required:
- Demonstrable experience working in both marketing and business development roles, enough to hold credibility with both teams and make informed decisions across both disciplines.
- Experience of managing and developing teams, particularly in environments that require nuanced, people-centred leadership.
- Experience leading or merging teams through change, with a track record of building cohesion from different starting points.
- Confidence operating in a brand-led, trust-focused environment rather than a high-pressure sales environment.
- Experience working with or within government or public sector contexts, or with organisations that serve government as a key client.
Desirable experience:
- Familiarity with network or partner-based delivery models, understanding the commercial and relational dynamics of supporting smaller businesses.
- Experience developing marketing support programmes or capacity-building resources for external organisations or partners.
- An understanding of procurement and relationship cycles in public sector or regulated environments.
