About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Tornos Machine Setter to join our precision engineering production team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting, operating, and maintaining Tornos AS 14 (6-spindle) multi-spindle automatic lathes to manufacture high-volume precision turned components in ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete full machine setups, tool changes, and changeovers on Tornos AS 14 automatic lathes.
- Set tooling, cams, collets, bar feeds, and feed mechanisms according to engineering drawings and process sheets.
- Perform first-off inspections and carry out routine in-process quality checks using standard metrology equipment (micrometers, verniers, thread gauges, optical comparators).
- Monitor machine performance, troubleshoot tolerance issues, and optimize cycle times.
- Work closely with the Quality Department to ensure zero-defect manufacturing and full adherence to ISO 9001 quality standards.
Requirements & Experience:
- Proven hands-on experience setting and operating Tornos AS 14 or similar multi-spindle cam-automatic lathes (e.g., Wickman, Tornos SAS 16).
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, geometric tolerances, and technical specifications.
- Strong background in precision metal manufacturing (ferrous and non-ferrous materials).
- Sound understanding of shop-floor quality procedures and precision measurement tools.
