About the role
Mobility Station is looking for a practical, hands-on person to join our team as a Trainee Vehicle Adaptation Engineer.
We specialise in fitting vehicle adaptations for disabled drivers and passengers, including driving controls, seating solutions, wheelchair access equipment and other mobility-related vehicle adaptations.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with vehicles, tools and mechanical systems, and wants to learn a specialist trade with long-term career prospects. Full training will be provided.
What you’ll be doing
You will be trained to assist with, and eventually carry out, the installation of vehicle adaptations in our West Drayton workshop and occasionally at customer locations.
Your duties will include:
- Assisting with the installation of vehicle adaptations for disabled drivers and passengers
- Learning how to fit, adjust and test specialist mobility equipment
- Carrying out basic mechanical and workshop tasks
- Helping with vehicle collections and deliveries
- Keeping the workshop clean, organised and safe
- Working closely with experienced engineers
- Communicating politely and professionally with customers
- Completing work carefully, safely and to agreed timescales
What we’re looking for
You do not need previous vehicle adaptation experience, as full training will be given. However, you should be practical, reliable and interested in cars, mechanics or engineering.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A genuine interest in cars, mechanics or hands-on technical work
- Experience using basic hand tools
- A careful and methodical approach to work
- Good attention to detail
- A willingness to learn a specialist trade
- Good timekeeping and reliability
- A professional attitude when dealing with customers
- A full UK driving licence
Previous experience in mechanics, vehicle fitting, car audio, bodywork, fabrication, electrical installation, workshop work or similar would be useful, but it is not essential.
