Current Opportunity: Assistant Accountant
Location:
Based in Birmingham - the Central Region runs from the east of Birmingham into the city centre, comprising Sublot Delta, 1B, 4 and 5S. More than 50% of the structures within IPT Area North are located in the Central Region. This region, which covers a complex urban environment, also includes the 3.5 mile twin bore Bromford Tunnel. It also includes Interchange Station, as well as crossing three major highways (A45, M6 and M42).
Role description:
Assist JV Project Accountant to:
Accounts Receivable/Small Claim Suppliers
- Support the JV Project Accountant with the daily Cost Recovery Sales Billing process.
- Coordinate with the Finance and Master Data Management back-office teams to ensure efficient set up of customer accounts and set up of one-time suppliers for small claims.
- Monitor BBV JV cash received and follow up with internal and external stakeholders to ensure prompt payment recovery and updating disposal trackers in a timely manner.
- Carry out administrative processes relating to control of financial information and processes.
- Support the balance sheet process where necessary, helping clear down cash related balances and supporting the BB Support team where project support is required.
- Support the JV Project Accountant with payment information during the monthly BBV cashflow forecast per the monthly timetable.
Other
- Support the finance team with other ad-hoc duties relating to cash
- Perform other ad-hoc duties to support the JV Project Accountant as and when required and requested.
- Be proactive in identifying weak signals and leading indicators of potential issues on the project.
- Challenge existing daily/routine processes that may be inefficient and propose improvements.
Essential Experience:
- The individual will need to have experience of working at a professional level within a large and complex fast-paced accounting environment.
- Technical knowledge of accounting routines & procedures.
- Good attention to detail, a disciplined and organised approach to work and the ability to handle and work with complex data.
- MS Office packages including Excel (Intermediate level minimum) skills are required.
- Able to work and thrive in a busy construction site led environment.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills are required, coupled with an ability to form effective relationships with partners and delivery team members under time pressure.
