Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented accountant to join out team. This role offers an additional opportunity for professional growth within a reputable organisation. Initially this role will be focussed on the trading group of SME's companies under group ownership. These include recruitment, maintenance, telesales. This will involve a good deal of autonomy and line reporting directly into Managing Director level.
Additionally, we have ambitious to develop the accounting function by growing the team and, given the nature of our business, offer accounting services to customers. The role is supported by group owned outsourced services overseas offers real growth and equity opportunities for the right candidate in the future
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the organisation’s financial management processes. Experience with various accounting software and a strong understanding of financial services are essential. The position is paid and suitable for individuals eager to develop their career in accounting and finance.
Responsibilities
- Day to Day Financial operations
- Prepare and analyse consolidated financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
- Oversee accounts payable processes, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
- Utilise accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, and other financial management tools to maintain accurate records.
- Support month-end and year-end closing procedures, including journal entries and reconciliations.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities across multiple departments or entities.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and internal policies related to financial reporting.
- Mentor junior team members, providing guidance on accounting practices and software utilisation in due course
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance department.
Skills
- Proven experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of financial services industry standards and practices.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Demonstrated proficiency in financial management, reporting, and analysis.
- Effective mentoring skills to support team development.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work.
- Good communication skills to liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Pay: £24,420.00-£58,156.89 per year
