KM Group is looking for a skilled and motivated Light Vehicle Mechanic to join our growing fleet maintenance team. The role will predominantly involve maintaining and repairing our fleet of Ford Transit vans and other light vehicles, ensuring they remain safe, reliable, and ready for service.
This is a varied, hands-on role that combines workshop-based servicing with roadside support, making it ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving and working in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on a fleet of Transit vans.
- Respond to reactive maintenance requests and diagnose faults efficiently.
- Attend roadside breakdowns and carry out repairs where possible.
- Perform mechanical repairs, servicing, inspections, and fault finding.
- Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, braking, steering, suspension, and electrical faults.
- Complete vehicle inspections and ensure all work complies with safety and legal standards.
- Maintain accurate service and repair records.
- Work closely with the Fleet Manager to minimise vehicle downtime.
- Ensure all tools, equipment, and the workshop are maintained to a high standard.
- Follow all company health and safety procedures.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience as a Light Vehicle Mechanic or Vehicle Technician.
- A recognised Level 3 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent).
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
- Experience working on Ford Transit vans or commercial light vehicles (desirable but not essential).
- A full UK driving licence (essential).
- The ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, particularly when attending roadside call-outs.
- A proactive approach with a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
