Job Type: Bank / Variable with opportunity to join the team full-time
Shifts: Day shifts, waking nights and weekends (rota basis)

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Care Support Worker (Bank) to join our Ofsted-registered children’s home and help create a safe, nurturing and supportive environment for young people.

About the Role
As a Care Support Worker (Bank), you will provide day-to-day care and emotional support to children living in our home.
You will work as part of a dedicated team to create a stable, loving and therapeutic home environment where young people feel safe, valued and supported.
No two days are the same. One day you may be supporting a young person with their education or hobbies, and another day you may be helping them develop life skills or simply being there to listen.

Key Responsibilities
Supporting Children and Young People
- Provide a safe, caring and nurturing home environment.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with young people.
- Support emotional wellbeing and personal development.
- Encourage independence and life skills.
Safeguarding and Child Protection
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of children at all times.
- Recognise and report safeguarding concerns.
- Follow safeguarding policies and procedures.
Supporting Education and Development
- Encourage and support school attendance.
- Support children with homework and learning activities.
- Promote confidence and self-esteem.
Behaviour and Emotional Support
- Use trauma-informed approaches to support behaviour.
- Follow behaviour support plans and care plans.
- Use de-escalation techniques to manage challenging situations.
Daily Care and Household Responsibilities
- Support young people with daily routines.
- Assist with meal preparation and household tasks.
- Help create a structured and supportive home environment.
Recording and Communication
- Maintain accurate records and reports.
- Participate in team meetings, handovers and reviews.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and professionals.

Essential Requirements
- Right to work in the UK
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work shifts including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins
- Willingness to complete training and professional development
Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience working with children or young people
- Experience in residential childcare or support work
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it)
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and behaviour support
