JOB TITLE: Inventory & Supply Chain Manager
REPORTING TO: Managing Director
LOCATION: Heywood, Greater Manchester, OL10 2TA
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Inventory & Supply Chain Manager will take ownership of all company stock across Ecoscape UK Ltd, ensuring inventory is accurately controlled, efficiently managed and available to meet customer demand.
The role is responsible for stock planning, purchasing, forecasting, inventory control, warehouse standards and supply chain management across both the Heywood (HQ) and Preston sites. The successful candidate will act as the central point of control for all stock movements and inventory-related communication within the business.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Inventory Management
- Take ownership of all company stock across all locations.
- Manage stock levels between Heywood and Preston.
- Authorise and coordinate all stock movements between sites.
- Ensure stock is available for customer orders and warehouse picking requirements.
- Monitor stock availability and future requirements.
- Maintain accurate stock records within company systems.
- Ensure stock is booked in accurately and efficiently.
- Investigate stock discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
- Conduct weekly cycle counts and three full stocktakes annually.
- Produce monthly stock valuation reports.
Purchasing & Supply Chain
- Place purchase orders with UK and overseas suppliers.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times and supply agreements.
- Monitor supplier performance.
- Track incoming containers and inbound deliveries.
- Forecast demand and future stock requirements.
- Identify risks to stock availability and propose solutions.
Planning & Forecasting
- Review current and future customer orders.
- Forecast stock requirements based on sales trends and business growth.
- Manage back orders and communicate expected availability.
- Work closely with Sales, Estimating, Operations and Logistics teams.
- Ensure visibility of stock availability across the business.
Warehouse & Operational Standards
Collaborate with the Warehouse Manager to optimise stock storage, warehouse organisation, and space utilisation.
- Develop efficient storage and picking processes.
- Improve stock layout and product accessibility.
- Ensure packaging standards are maintained.
- Reduce stock damage through process improvement and training.
- Conduct quality inspections on stock and packaging.
- Ensure samples, marketing materials and internal stock usage are properly recorded.Returns, Damaged & Obsolete Stock
- Manage returned stock processes.
- Assess returned products and determine suitable actions.
- Manage damaged, obsolete and slow-moving stock.
- Develop strategies for clearance sales and stock reduction.
- Raise and manage supplier claims for defective products.
Manufacturing & Product Assembly
- Plan stock requirements for assembled products including gates and related systems.
- Coordinate production requirements to maintain stock availability.
Communication & Reporting
- Provide regular inventory updates to management and wider teams.
- Attend regular meetings with Directors, Operations, Logistics and Warehouse Management.
- Produce reports on:
- Stock valuation
- Stock accuracy
- Slow-moving inventory
- Overstock positions
- Forecast requirements
- Back orders
- Supplier performance
Continuous Improvement
- Drive inventory process improvements.
- Lead implementation of barcode systems and stock control technology.
- Improve stock visibility and reporting.
- Develop best practice procedures across inventory and warehouse operations.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
- Minimum 5 years experience in inventory, stock control, purchasing or supply chain management.
- Strong forecasting and planning experience.
- Experience managing inventory across multiple sites.
- Strong commercial awareness.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Advanced Excel and stock management systems experience.
- Ability to influence teams and drive operational improvements.
Desirable
- Experience within building products, merchanting, construction materials or distribution.
- Experience importing products from overseas suppliers.
- Experience implementing barcode or warehouse management systems.
- Purchasing or supply chain qualifications.
Bonus
Pay: £45,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
