FG Cars Loughborough is looking for an experienced and fully qualified Vehicle Technician to join our busy workshop team.
FG Cars is a well-established, award-winning used-car dealership with a large and varied vehicle stock. We are a fast-paced and extremely busy dealership, so we need someone who can confidently stand on their own two feet, work independently and take ownership of their workload.
This position would suit a proactive, dependable and hardworking technician who takes pride in their work and wants the opportunity to develop their skills.
Key responsibilities:
- Servicing, maintaining and repairing cars and light commercial vehicles
- Accurately diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
- Completing vehicle inspections and pre-delivery checks
- Carrying out general mechanical repairs, including brakes, suspension, clutches, timing belts and engine work
- Using diagnostic equipment to identify and rectify faults
- Clearly recording diagnostic findings and completed repairs
- Ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard
- Managing your own workload and meeting vehicle-preparation deadlines
- Keeping the workshop clean, organised and compliant with health and safety requirements
Teamwork and communication:
Although the successful candidate must be confident working independently, they must also be able to work closely and professionally with colleagues across the workshop, sales and management teams.
Good communication and teamwork are essential, as everyone must work together to ensure vehicles are prepared correctly, efficiently and on time.
Essential requirements:
- A recognised Level 3 automotive qualification or equivalent
- Proven experience working as a Vehicle Technician or Car Mechanic
- Strong mechanical and diagnostic knowledge
- The ability to work confidently without constant supervision
- The ability to work closely and effectively with colleagues
- A proactive approach and the ability to use your own initiative
- Good time-management and organisational skills
- A professional attitude and pride in the quality of your work
- A full UK driving licence
- Fluency in spoken and written English, with the ability to understand technical instructions, accurately record findings and communicate clearly with colleagues and customers
An MOT Tester qualification would be beneficial but is not essential.
