We're looking for a Registered Nurse to join the night team at The Mountains Nursing Home, someone who's clinically confident, calm when things don't quite go to plan and, most importantly, never forgets the person behind the care.
We're not going to tell you nursing is easy. You already know it isn't.

A Little About Us
Set in the beautiful Brecon Beacons, The Mountains Nursing Home supports older people with a range of individual and sometimes complex needs, including people living with dementia, learning disabilities and age-related conditions.
It's a large and varied home, so there's plenty of opportunity to actually use your nursing skills.
You'll work alongside an experienced night care team, getting to know our residents properly and making sure they feel safe, comfortable and well cared for throughout the night.
So, What Does a Night at The Mountains Look Like?
You'll take clinical responsibility during your shift, balancing planned nursing care with whatever the night decides to throw your way.
You'll be:
- Delivering safe, compassionate and genuinely person-centred nursing care
- Administering medication and treatments safely and accurately
- Assessing residents and responding to changes in their health
- Monitoring and managing a range of clinical needs
- Developing, reviewing and updating individual care plans
- Making informed clinical decisions and escalating concerns appropriately
- Providing clinical leadership, support and guidance to the night care team
- Liaising with healthcare professionals and families when needed
- Keeping clinical records clear, accurate and up to date
- Making sure handovers actually tell the next team what they need to know
- Promoting residents' dignity, independence, choices and wellbeing
- Being a calm and reassuring presence when somebody needs you at 3am
Essentially, you'll be the Nurse residents and colleagues can rely on when it matters.
Who Are We Looking For?
First things first, you'll need:
- Current NMC registration with a valid UK PIN
- Good clinical knowledge and sound nursing judgement
- Confidence administering medication and managing clinical needs
- The ability to recognise when something isn't quite right – and know what to do next
- Confidence making decisions and prioritising during a busy shift
- The ability to lead, support and guide a care team
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- A compassionate, professional and person-centred approach
- The confidence to work independently while knowing when to escalate or ask for support
Experience within a nursing home, older people's care, dementia care or another relevant clinical setting would be particularly welcomed.
But we're interested in more than what's written on your CV.
Kindness. Patience. Common sense. Good judgement. And a sense of humour when the shift calls for one.

You'll need to be able to reliably travel to and from the home for 8pm starts and 8am finishes, including weekends.
We'd much rather be upfront about that now than have you apply, get excited about the job and then discover we're a little too far into the mountains for the journey to work!
