Job Summary
We are looking for a dynamic, tenacious and commercially minded Sales & Fuel Delivery Driver to join our growing mobile fuel delivery business.
This is not a standard delivery driver role.
Yes, you will be responsible for safely and professionally delivering fuel to our customers, but we are looking for someone who can also spot opportunities, approach local businesses, build relationships and generate new customers.
You will be driving one of our specialist mobile fuel delivery vans and visiting businesses across the local area, including:
- Skip and waste companies
- Construction firms
- Builders' merchants
- Haulage and transport businesses
- Van and commercial vehicle fleets
- Plant and machinery operators
- Workshops and industrial businesses
- Any business operating diesel vehicles, vans, trucks, machinery or equipment
As you travel around your area, we want you to actively identify potential customers, introduce yourself, show businesses the mobile fuel delivery vehicle and explain how Fuel2U can help save them time and money.
You will be offering businesses a choice of our direct mobile fuel delivery service or fuel card solutions, with the aim of turning new enquiries into regular customers and ongoing delivery accounts.
What you'll be doing
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering fuel safely and professionally to commercial customers.
- Driving and operating our specialist mobile fuel delivery van.
- Providing excellent customer service to existing customers.
- Actively identifying new sales opportunities while out on the road.
- Approaching suitable local businesses and introducing the Fuel2U service.
- Demonstrating how our mobile fuel delivery service works.
- Speaking confidently with business owners, fleet managers, transport managers and site managers.
- Offering businesses mobile fuel delivery and fuel card solutions.
- Following up potential leads and opportunities.
- Building long-term relationships with customers.
- Converting new opportunities into regular deliveries and ongoing commercial accounts.
- Feeding valuable information and sales leads back to the management team.
- Representing Fuel2U professionally at all times.
The person we're looking for
We are not looking for someone who simply wants to drive from A to B, complete their deliveries and go home.
The right person will be:
- Tenacious and proactive
- Naturally confident speaking to people
- Comfortable walking into a business and introducing themselves
- Sales-minded and commercially aware
- Good at spotting opportunities
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Friendly, professional and credible with customers
- Someone who enjoys being out on the road and meeting people
- Motivated by helping to grow a business and win new customers
- Comfortable working to both delivery and sales targets
You don't need to be a pushy salesperson. We want someone who can confidently start conversations, understand what a business needs and explain how our services could help them.
Essential requirements
- Full UK driving licence.
- Must meet our commercial vehicle insurance requirements, which currently require drivers to be aged 25 or over.
- Previous professional delivery driving experience.
- Confident and experienced driving commercial vans.
- Strong communication and people skills.
- A proactive and sales-focused attitude.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own time effectively.
- Comfortable approaching businesses and speaking to decision-makers.
Desirable experience
Experience in any of the following would be a significant advantage:
- Fuel delivery
- Fuel industry
- Commercial vehicle operations
- ADR or dangerous goods awareness
- Transport or logistics
- Business-to-business sales
- Field sales
- Fuel cards
- Construction, waste, skip hire or haulage industries
Previous fuel-industry experience would be ideal, but we are equally interested in someone with the right personality, drive and commercial instinct.
Working hours
The role will involve shift-based working, typically covering either:
Morning shift: approximately 7:00am to 1:00pm or 2:00pm
or
Afternoon/evening shift: approximately 2:00pm or 3:00pm to 10:00pm
Flexibility will be important as delivery requirements may vary according to customer demand.
Why this role is different
This is an opportunity for someone who wants more than a traditional driving job.
You will be the face of Fuel2U out on the road. Every journey, industrial estate, construction site, transport yard and commercial fleet could represent a new business opportunity.
We want someone who thinks:
"That company runs ten vans—could we supply their fuel?"
"Those trucks are going to the petrol station every day—could we deliver directly to their yard instead?"
"That construction company has plant and machinery on site—could they benefit from regular scheduled fuel deliveries?"
If that is how you naturally think, this could be the perfect role for you.
