About Carriden Logistics
Carriden Logistics is preparing to launch a new Amazon Delivery Service Partner operation in Stoke-on-Trent.
We are building a high-performing delivery business founded on hard work, professional standards, excellent customer service and a strong commitment to safety.
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on On-Site Operations Manager to take ownership of daily delivery operations and help establish the culture, routines and performance standards of the business from launch.
This is an opportunity to join a new DSP from launch, work directly with the business owners and play a significant role in shaping the operation as it grows.
The role
You will lead the day-to-day DSP operation, including driver deployment, dispatch and load-out, route execution, fleet readiness, operational performance, compliance and the working relationship with Amazon station management.
This is a front-line leadership position. You will need to be visible, organised and calm under pressure, with the judgement to resolve operational issues quickly and the confidence to hold drivers to clear and consistent standards.
Key responsibilities
Your principal responsibilities will include:
- leading daily driver check-in, stand-ups, dispatch, load-out and return-to-station activity;
- managing attendance, absences, route coverage, standby requirements and operational disruption;
- monitoring route performance and coordinating rescues or other interventions where required;
- planning rotas and managing drivers’ day-to-day conduct, safety and performance;
- coaching drivers using Amazon scorecards, operational data and direct observation;
- supporting the business owners with driver selection, onboarding and training, and providing recommendations on formal performance action where required;
- maintaining accurate and audit-ready records and supporting compliance reviews, audits and corrective-action plans;
- overseeing daily fleet readiness, vehicle checks, defect management and damage reporting; and
- producing concise operational reporting and acting as Carriden’s principal day-to-day contact with Amazon station leadership.
You will have meaningful authority over the daily operation while working closely with the business owners on recruitment, fleet arrangements and the wider Amazon relationship.
Experience and capabilities
We are particularly interested in candidates with previous experience as an Amazon DSP On-Site Manager, Operations Manager or in a comparable high-volume last-mile operation.
You should be able to demonstrate:
- strong knowledge of Amazon DSP operations, scorecards, safety and compliance;
- experience managing drivers or front-line operational teams;
- sound workforce-planning, organisational and problem-solving skills;
- confidence handling attendance, performance and people issues;
- the ability to use operational systems, spreadsheets and performance data effectively;
- clear communication and good judgement under pressure; and
- flexibility to work early starts, weekends and, where required, six days in a week.
A full UK driving licence is required.
What we offer
We are prepared to offer a highly competitive package for the right person. The upper end of the advertised range is reserved for exceptional candidates with a strong track record in Amazon DSP or comparable last-mile operations.
The role includes a target annual performance bonus of £5,000, linked to safety, compliance, service, people and operational performance, with additional upside where outstanding results are delivered.
You will also benefit from:
- direct access to and support from the business owners;
- meaningful authority over the daily operation;
- the opportunity to help build a new DSP from launch;
- scope to shape the future operational management structure as the business grows; and
- free on-site parking.
Application
Please submit your CV together with a short covering note setting out:
- your Amazon DSP or relevant last-mile experience;
- the largest number of routes and drivers you have managed;
- your experience of scorecards, compliance and fleet management; and
- an example of an operational performance issue you successfully resolved.
This is a self-employed contractor role. The successful applicant will invoice for services provided and remain responsible for their own tax affairs. Optional specialist accountancy support can be made available.
