Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food production and preparation, along with excellent leadership and team management skills. This role is essential in maintaining the high standards of our kitchen while supporting the Head Chef in delivering exceptional dining experiences.
At a glance, your role is to work as part of a team to prepare and cook food and to help to keep the kitchen running smoothly, all while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety and customer service.
Our pubs open early and close late, so we offer great flexibility with shift patterns, including mornings, evenings, weekends and late finishes.
Duties
- Assist the Kitchen Manager in daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth workflow and high-quality food production.
- Reliability, motivation & a team player mindset
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes, adhering to recipes and presentation standards to the correct specification.
- Operating kitchen work stations, including grills, fryers, microwaves and more
- Maintain food safety and hygiene standards throughout all food preparation processes as well as health & safety and allergen.
- Cleaning as you go, including full kitchen clean downs.
- Rotating stock & storing food safely.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new menu items and improve existing offerings.
- Assist in inventory management, including ordering supplies and monitoring stock levels.
- Ensure that the kitchen environment is clean, organised, and compliant with health regulations.
- Participate in training new staff members on kitchen procedures and best practices.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a kitchen environment, preferably within a restaurant setting.
- Strong culinary skills with a solid understanding of food preparation techniques.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices is essential.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- A passion for hospitality and delivering outstanding customer service.
