CML Steel is an established structural steel fabricator based in North London (N18). We design, fabricate and erect structural steelwork and architectural metalwork for commercial, industrial and residential projects across London and the South East.
We are looking for an experienced Sales Estimator to price and win new work. This is a permanent, full-time, on-site role suited to someone who can take a project from enquiry through to won tender and enjoys the commercial side as much as the technical detail.
The role
You will own the estimating process end to end: reviewing drawings and specifications, carrying out take-offs, pricing material and labour, and producing accurate, competitive quotations. You will also be the point of contact for clients and main contractors, following up quotes and converting enquiries into orders.
Responsibilities
- Interpret structural drawings, specifications and bills of quantities
- Carry out steel take-offs and prepare detailed cost estimates
- Source and compare supplier and subcontractor pricing
- Prepare, submit and follow up tenders and BAFO responses
- Liaise with clients, main contractors and the fabrication team
- Maintain pricing records and support handover of won projects
Requirements (essential)
- Minimum 3 years' experience estimating structural steel or architectural metalwork (estimating specifically, not general steel-industry experience)
- Demonstrable history of independently pricing live tenders from take-off through to final quotation
- Able to interpret structural drawings, specifications and BOQs and produce accurate take-offs without supervision
- Evidence of tenders won; you will be asked to describe projects you have personally priced
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable
- Turkish language skills (our office team is primarily Turkish-speaking)
- Familiarity with UK steel sections and BS/EN standards
- Experience with main contractor tender portals (e.g. Constructionline)
