Senior Residential Support Worker / Team Leader

We are opening a brand new 2-bed children’s home and are looking for a confident, experienced Senior Residential Support Worker / Team Leader to join the founding team.
You will be working alongside one of our outstanding-rated managers, with the chance to shape the culture, set high standards, and create a home that delivers exceptional outcomes for young people.
Before the home opens, you will also have the opportunity to train and gain hands-on experience across our existing homes, ensuring you are fully prepared and confident in your role.
About the role
This role combines direct care with on-shift leadership responsibility.
You will be the senior on duty, responsible for the safe, effective, and consistent running of the home during your shift, while supporting and guiding the wider team.
The role typically follows a 1 on / 2 off pattern (15-hour shifts) with sleep-ins required on a rota basis (approximately every other shift). Shifts are 07:30 - 22:30.
What you will be doing
- Leading and coordinating staff on shift, ensuring safe staffing and clear direction
- Acting as the senior decision-maker, managing incidents and escalating where required
- Delivering and maintaining consistent, child-centred care
- Implementing and monitoring care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour strategies
- Overseeing daily routines, education, appointments, and activities
- Ensuring all records, logs, and handovers are accurate and of high quality
- Supporting, coaching, and mentoring Residential Support Workers
- Undertaking sleep-in duties and responding appropriately when required
- Working in line with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and safeguarding standards
- Liaising professionally with managers and external agencies
What we are looking for
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced within children’s residential care
- Confident leading shifts or acting as the senior on duty
- Strong in safeguarding knowledge and professional judgement
- Calm, resilient, and able to manage behaviours and incidents effectively
- Organised, with excellent communication skills
- Committed to high standards and positive outcomes for young people
- A driver (essential)
A Level 3 qualification (or above) in Children and Young People is desirable.

- £29,860.50 – £30,775.50 per year (including sleep-ins), depending on experience
- £60 per sleep-in
