Full-Time Sous Chef
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Full-Time Deputy Catering Manager to join our kitchen team at the Poppy & Pint. Working closely with the Head Chef, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality food, maintaining excellent kitchen standards, and supporting a smooth and efficient service. Key responsibilities
· Support the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen and lead service confidently in their absence.
· Prepare and deliver consistently high-quality food that meets presentation, portion, and service standards.
· Help develop seasonal menus, daily specials, and fresh ideas that enhance the food offer.
· Maintain excellent food safety, hygiene, and HACCP standards at all times.
· Manage stock control, stock rotation, ordering, and waste reduction to support efficient kitchen operations.
· Train, support, and motivate junior chefs and kitchen team members to maintain high standards across the brigade.
· Work closely with front-of-house colleagues to ensure a smooth service and a great customer experience.
· Help monitor food costs, portion control, and kitchen processes to support a well-run, commercially aware operation.
· Ensure the kitchen remains clean, organised, and inspection-ready at all times.
What we’re looking for
· Previous experience in a Sous Chef or strong Chef de Partie role within a busy kitchen.
· A genuine passion for fresh food, quality ingredients, and consistently high standards.
· Strong leadership skills with the ability to support, coach, and inspire others.
· Excellent organisation, attention to detail, and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
· Good understanding of food safety, allergens, stock management, and kitchen compliance.
· A positive, reliable, and hands-on approach with a willingness to step in wherever needed.
Full-time role
This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to play an important part in a busy kitchen operation, contribute ideas, and develop your career within a supportive team environment. You will be expected to work flexibly across shifts, including evenings, weekends, and busy trading periods, as required by the business.
