The Activities Coordinator will plan, organise and deliver a varied, meaningful and person-centred programme of activities for residents living in AE Care Group Limited’s 18-bed elderly and dementia care home. The role supports residents’ wellbeing, independence, social engagement, dignity and sense of purpose through group activities, one-to-one engagement, seasonal events, reminiscence work, gentle exercise, creative sessions and links with families and the local community. The post holder will work closely with residents, families, care staff and management to ensure activities reflect individual needs, preferences, abilities, life histories and dementia care needs.
Experience and Qualifications
· Previous experience in an activities, wellbeing, care, support work, hospitality, community, childcare, creative, customer-facing or similar role is desirable.
· Experience working with older people, people living with dementia, or people with additional support needs is desirable.
· Understanding of person-centred care, dementia awareness, dignity, privacy, communication needs and meaningful engagement is desirable.
· Ability to plan and deliver activities such as music, reminiscence, arts and crafts, games, gentle exercise, sensory work, gardening, celebrations and community involvement.
· Basic IT and record-keeping skills are desirable for activity planning, printing resources, maintaining records and gathering feedback.
· Willingness to complete mandatory training and any further learning required by the home, including safeguarding, dementia awareness, moving and handling, infection prevention, health and safety and fire safety.
Pay: £13.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16.0 per week
