Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Person to join our team. The ideal candidate will ensure that the home is safe, secure, well maintained and welcoming for residents, staff and visitors. This includes general repairs, maintenance of equipment and ensuring compliance with Health and Safety Regulations.
Duties
- General Maintenance.
- Carry out routine repairs and planned maintenance tasks including plumbing, joinery, painting, minor electrical work, and basic gardening.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests raised by staff or management.
- Ensure walkways, driveways, and external areas are safe and well-maintained.
- Conduct regular health and safety checks, including fire alarms, emergency lighting, water temperatures, and legionella checks (where required).
- Record and report any hazards or safety concerns to management immediately.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance works, repairs, and safety checks.
- Support the Home Manager in meeting regulatory and statutory compliance.
- Ensure that equipment used by staff and residents is in good working order.
- Provide practical support during emergencies, such as power cuts or adverse weather.
Skills
Essential:
Keen eye to detail.
Experience in general maintenance or a similar role.
Basic knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, electrics, and painting.
Understanding of health and safety regulations.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and prioritise workload.
Respect for confidentiality and empathy for elderly or vulnerable residents.
Desirable:
Own tools.
Previous experience in a care home, hospital, or similar environment.
Relevant qualifications
Full clean UK driving licence.
