Pantry Coordinator (Part-Time)
Hours: 8 hours per week
Contract: Fixed-term contract for an initial period of three (3) months. The continuation of the role will be reviewed every three months and is subject to the availability of funding, the ongoing operational needs of Pilands Wood Community Centre and satisfactory performance.

Purpose of the Role
Pilands Wood Community Centre is seeking an organised, reliable and community-focused Pantry Coordinator to oversee the day-to-day operation of the Community Pantry.
The Pantry Coordinator will ensure the pantry is well stocked, provides value for money, supports local residents with affordable food, and operates in a welcoming, efficient and safe manner every Monday. The role will also involve purchasing stock, monitoring stock levels and working with volunteers to deliver an excellent service to the community.
Key Responsibilities
· Manage the weekly operation of the Community Pantry every Monday excluding Bank Holidays.
· Purchase food and household items for the pantry, ensuring good quality and value for money.
· Source affordable products from a range of suppliers while maintaining quality standards.
· Monitor stock levels and ensure appropriate stock is available to meet community demand.
· Rotate stock and check expiry dates to minimise waste.
· Maintain accurate records of purchases, stock levels and expenditure.
· Work within agreed budgets and seek cost-effective purchasing opportunities.
· Build positive relationships with suppliers, local supermarkets, food organisations and donors where appropriate.
· Receive, organise and store deliveries safely.
· Work alongside volunteers, providing guidance and support during pantry sessions.
· Ensure the pantry is welcoming, clean, organised and accessible for all users.
· Follow food hygiene, health and safety and manual handling procedures at all times.
· Report regularly to the Office Manager on stock levels, purchasing, expenditure, pantry usage and any issues or opportunities for improvement.
· Promote the pantry service within the local community where appropriate.
Person SpecificationEssential
· Good organisational and planning skills.
· Experience of stock control, purchasing or retail operations.
· Ability to manage budgets and achieve value for money.
· Good communication and customer service skills.
· Ability to work independently and use initiative.
· Basic IT skills, including email and Microsoft Office.
· Friendly, reliable and committed to supporting the local community.
Desirable
· Experience of working within a charity, community organisation or food pantry.
· Knowledge of food hygiene and safe food handling practices.
· Experience of working with volunteers.
· Understanding of food waste reduction and sustainable purchasing.
· Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (if required).

· Undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role as requested by the Office Manager.
