Purpose of role:
To generate income for Community Transformers by developing fundraising campaigns, grant applications, donor relationships and community giving initiatives.
Specific job description:
The postholder will be responsible for securing financial support for Community Transformers’ charitable objectives through grant fundraising, donor stewardship, community fundraising, corporate partnerships and fundraising campaigns. The role will involve researching funding opportunities, preparing proposals, maintaining donor records, organising fundraising activities and reporting on the impact of funded projects.
Key duties:
- Research suitable grant, trust, foundation, corporate and community funding opportunities.
- Prepare and submit funding applications, proposals, budgets and supporting documents.
- Develop and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, local businesses and partner organisations.
- Plan and coordinate fundraising campaigns, events and community giving activities.
- Maintain accurate fundraising records, donor communications and income tracking.
- Produce reports for funders showing project outputs, outcomes and community impact.
- Work with programme staff to gather evidence, beneficiary stories and monitoring data for funding reports.
- Ensure fundraising activities comply with charity law, data protection and ethical fundraising standards.
- Skills required
· Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to prepare persuasive funding applications, donor communications, proposals and impact reports.
· Research skills to identify suitable grant-makers, trusts, foundations, corporate sponsors and community fundraising opportunities.
· Relationship-building skills for engaging donors, supporters, local businesses, funders, sponsors and partner organisations.
· Strong planning and project coordination skills to manage fundraising campaigns, events, deadlines and reporting requirements.
· Ability to develop compelling cases for support using evidence, beneficiary stories, budgets and impact data.
· Good numeracy and budget awareness to support funding applications, income tracking and grant expenditure reporting.
· Attention to detail when preparing applications, maintaining donor records and meeting funder conditions.
· Confidence using CRM systems, spreadsheets, databases, email marketing tools or fundraising platforms.
· Understanding of ethical fundraising, donor stewardship, data protection and charity fundraising standards.
· Ability to work collaboratively with programme, finance, communications and management teams.
Experience required
· Previous experience in fundraising, bid writing, grants administration, donor relations, community fundraising, corporate partnerships, marketing, communications or charity development.
· Experience of researching funders and preparing funding applications, proposals or sponsorship requests.
· Experience of managing or supporting fundraising campaigns, appeals, community giving initiatives or fundraising events.
· Experience of maintaining donor or supporter records and tracking income, pledges, grant deadlines or reporting requirements.
· Experience of producing funder reports, monitoring returns or impact summaries using project outputs and outcomes.
· Experience of working with programme staff to gather case studies, monitoring information and evidence of community impact.
· Experience of engaging local businesses, community groups, faith groups, individual donors or corporate partners would be beneficial.
· Experience within a charity, community organisation, voluntary sector body or not-for-profit environment is desirable.
Qualifications and training required
· A first degree in a relevant field is desirable due to the writing, budgeting and reporting requirements of the role.
· A qualification or proven experience in fundraising, business administration, marketing, communications, charity management, project management or a related subject would be advantageous.
· Training or membership linked to the Chartered Institute of Fundraising would be beneficial, particularly for ethical fundraising and donor stewardship.
· Training in grant writing, fundraising compliance, data protection, charity law awareness and impact reporting is recommended.
· Competence in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel, is required; experience of CRM or donor management systems is desirable.
· Safeguarding awareness training is recommended where fundraising content includes beneficiary stories, images or sensitive personal information.
Pay: £27,000.00-£34,000.00 per year
