The Role
We are looking for an experienced CAD Technician / Estimator to join our company. This is a varied role combining CAD, estimating, procurement, and project support, working closely with our General Manager, workshop, clients, and suppliers.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a technical manufacturing, fabrication, engineering, joinery, or similar environment and be confident working with both drawings and commercial information.
Key Responsibilities
CAD & Technical Drawing
- Produce and amend accurate 2D CAD drawings for bespoke fabrication projects.
- Interpret architectural, fabrication, and technical drawings.
- Prepare drawing packs and technical documentation for production.
- Manage drawing revisions, registers, and project files.
- Liaise with the workshop to resolve technical queries and ensure designs are suitable for manufacture.
- Identify technical issues or omissions before work progresses.
Estimating & Quotations
- Review enquiries, drawings, specifications, and client requirements.
- Prepare accurate and commercially viable quotations.
- Obtain supplier and subcontractor pricing where required.
- Identify costs, risks, assumptions, and missing information.
- Liaise with clients to clarify requirements and follow up quotations.
Procurement & Project Support
- Source materials, components, finishes, and subcontract services.
- Raise purchase orders and monitor supplier lead times.
- Support project handovers and ensure relevant information is available to the workshop.
- Coordinate technical information between clients, suppliers, office, and workshop.
- Monitor project requirements and escalate potential issues.
General Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate quotation, drawing, and project records.
- Support reporting and KPI tracking.
- Help improve internal processes and systems.
Skills & Experience – Essential
- Previous experience in CAD, estimating, technical, or project coordination within manufacturing, construction, engineering, joinery, or fabrication.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Experience using Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar CAD software.
- Experience preparing estimates, quotations, or costings.
- Good understanding of materials and manufacturing processes.
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Good commercial awareness and communication skills.
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise workload, and take ownership.
Desirable
- Experience in bespoke metalwork, architectural metalwork, fabrication, joinery, or fit-out.
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, welding, and finishing processes.
- Experience with procurement, supplier management, or job management software.
- Relevant CAD, engineering, design, or manufacturing qualification.

Pay: £38,000.00-£44,000.00 per year
