We're looking for a reliable, kind-hearted Day Care Assistant to join our friendly team. Experience in care is a bonus, but it's not everything. If you've got transferable skills, a great work ethic and a genuine passion for looking after people, we'd love to hear from you. We're a small, independently run care home, which means no feeling like just another number. No two days are exactly the same, but your role will include:
- Providing compassionate, person-centred care to our residents.
- Supporting residents with personal care while always promoting dignity, choice and independence.
- Helping people get washed, dressed and ready for the day in the way they like.
- Supporting residents at mealtimes, encouraging them to eat and drink well.
- Helping residents enjoy meaningful activities, hobbies and outings.
- Spending time chatting, laughing and building genuine relationships with the people who live here.
- Helping residents get comfortable and ready for bed at the end of the day.
- Carrying out a little housekeeping and cleaning to help keep the home looking its best.
- Keeping accurate records and communicating effectively with colleagues.
One thing we're especially proud of is that activities are part of everyone's role. Rather than having a dedicated Activities Coordinator, every member of the team gets the opportunity to spend meaningful time with residents, whether that's baking, gardening, a trip out for coffee, a game of dominoes or simply sitting down for a good chat. Above all, you'll help make our residents feel safe, respected and truly at home.
We're much more interested in attitude than ticking every box. You'll probably be someone who is reliable and turns up ready to work. You need to be kind, patient and respectful and happy working as part of a supportive team. You will be passionate about giving older people the quality of life they deserve, calm under pressure and able to use your initiative.
Care experience is preferred, but we'll happily consider applicants with strong transferable skills from customer service, hospitality, healthcare, education or other people-focused roles. If you're the sort of person people describe as dependable, caring and someone who just gets on with things, you'll fit in well here.
