The Role
As Duty Manager, you are in direct control of the shift. This isn't a job where you sit in the office, you'll be leading from the floor, driving the vibe, looking after our guests, and making sure the venue runs smoothly, safely, and profitably every time you're on duty.
What You’ll Be Doing
On the Floor & Guest Experience
- Own the Shift: Keep the floor moving seamlessly from open to close.
- Set the Standard: Lead by example with quick greetings, great drinks, and consistent service.
- Manage the Vibe: Keep an eye on the details that matter—lighting, music, temperature, and overall atmosphere.
- Fix Issues Fast: Deal with guest feedback in real-time on the floor so everyone leaves happy.
Team Leadership
- Run the Team: Keep the shift focused, motivated, and working together.
- Briefings & Development: Lead clear pre-shift briefings so the team knows the plan. Offer on-the-spot coaching and feedback during service to help people grow.
- Standards: Ensure company policies are followed fairly and consistently across the board.
Product & Operations
- Quality Control: Keep a sharp eye on food and drink presentation, working closely with both FOH and BOH.
- Sales & Stock: Drive daily offers and events, and keep a tight handle on stock control and wastage during service.
- Compliance: Act as the main person responsible for health, safety, and licensing while on duty.
- Handovers: Keep the venue clean, organized, and properly set up, finishing your shift with a thorough handover for the next manager.
Financials & Labour
- Labour Control: Make smart, real-time decisions on staffing levels based on trade volume to protect labour costs without dropping service standards.
- Cashing Up: Take responsibility for cash handling, till procedures, and the shift’s financial performance.
What We’re Looking For
- A natural leader who prefers being on the floor with the team rather than behind a screen.
- Someone who understands the balance between great hospitality, shift compliance, and commercial sense.
- A proactive problem solver who catches issues early and takes action.
