Balfour Beatty is looking to recruit a Cabling Site Supervisor to join our Power Transmission & Distribution team based in Market Weighton, YO43 4NQ.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Site Supervisor to support the safe and efficient delivery of cabling works across key infrastructure projects. The role will involve supervising operatives on site, ensuring teams are trained, competent and working safely, while supporting the Site Manager and Project Manager to deliver works in line with programme requirements. The attached role profile confirms the position is responsible for ensuring operatives are trained to carry out works safely, competently and in a timely manner using appropriate plant and equipment.
You will work closely with Site Engineers and the wider project team to ensure construction activities are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standards. The role profile also states that the Site Supervisor works in partnership with Site Engineers and Site Managers to resolve delivery issues and support successful project delivery.
What you'll be doing
- Supervising operatives and supporting the safe, smooth and efficient running of site activities.
- Establishing daily meeting points for operatives, delivering safety briefings and toolbox talks, and recording attendance and absence.
- Reviewing the scope of works with the Project Manager and Site Engineers, agreeing safe systems of work and supporting the preparation of work packs.
- Ensuring all site personnel receive site inductions and daily briefings before starting activities.
- Monitoring that site personnel have the correct PPE, welfare facilities and authorisations to carry out their duties safely.
- Supporting weekly inspections of plant and lifting equipment, ensuring records are completed correctly.
- Ensuring Permit to Work documentation near existing services is completed clearly and correctly for ground-breaking activities.
- Communicating safety alerts and information to all those involved in construction operations.
- Supporting accident, incident and near-miss investigations where required.
- Monitoring progress against the programme for construction activities.
Who we're looking for
- Previous experience in the construction and delivery of cabling, overhead line or substation schemes up to 400kV.
- Experience of implementing safe systems of work.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with site teams, project teams, subcontractors and clients.
- Excellent relationship management skills.
- The ability to lead, develop and motivate a team to deliver safely and successfully.
- A current driving licence.
- CSCS and SSSTS, or equivalent, would be beneficial
- Commercial awareness, including an understanding of budgetary and financial control.
- A good understanding of current safety legislation.
