Are you a skilled HGV / Plant Mechanic looking for a role that genuinely challenges you? This is a hands-on position where you'll work across a wide range of heavy vehicles and plant equipment and more diverse than your typical workshop role.
You'll be getting your hands on JCB telehandlers, loading shovels, 360 diggers, plant milling machines, conveyors and compactors, a range of HGV chassis cabs, tankers, hook lift trailers and much more.
What You'll Be Working On
You'll diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues across:
Plant Vehicles
● JCB Telehandlers, Loading Shovels, 360 Diggers
● Access platform cherry pickers
Plant Machinery
● Bread milling machines, conveyors, compactors and portable compactors
HGV Chassis Cabs
● DAF, Volvo, Renault
Trailers
● Hook lift, Tanker, Curtain sider
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities
● Carry out 6 weekly vehicle and trailer inspections and services to a thorough and high standard, including preventative maintenance, hook lifting equipment and MOT preps
● Servicing and repair work on Telehandlers, mills and conveyor systems
● Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical issues efficiently using diagnostic tools (Jaltest)
● Carry out repairs/replacement of faulty parts and components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, Adblue components, ABS components and electrical systems — this list does not exhaust requirements
● Deal with breakdowns by diagnosing problems over the phone, roadside or on customer sites (1 week in 4 on-call rota)
● Carry out services and general repairs on plant vehicles and other plant machinery on site
● Keep up-to-date and accurate records of work carried out including parts used and time allocated — inspection sheets, job sheets and parts used
● Ensure good communication regarding any repair work, timeframes and parts required
● Follow company safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment at all times
What We're Looking For
Essential
● 6+ years of practical experience
● Knowledge of multi-brand vehicles
● Knowledge of vehicle Hooklift equipment (RORO)
● IRTEC certification
● Knowledge of hydraulic systems
Desirable
● 8+ years of practical experience
● Broad knowledge of multi-brand vehicles
● Experience with welding and fabrication
● Knowledge of LOLER regulations for Hooklift equipment

Hours of Work
Vacancy: 47.5 hours per week (45 hours excluding 30 minutes unpaid lunch breaks) — Monday to Friday, Earlies or Lates (Hours Negotiable)
Pay & Benefits
£20.00 per hour — rising to £21.46 per hour on successful completion of probation
Overtime rate: £31.50 per hour
