Lewis Pies are a family-owned company who have been making pastries, breads and cakes since 1936. We have an exciting opportunity for a Production Operative to join our team at our Fforestfach site in Swansea.
As a Production Operative, you will play an important role in ensuring our products are manufactured safely, efficiently and consistently to the high standards our customers expect. You will work as part of a team in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment, supporting different areas of production as required.
Responsibilities of our Production Operatives are:
- Following production procedures, recipes and work instructions accurately and maintaining consistency.
- Working safely and efficiently to meet production targets and deadlines.
- Operating production equipment and machinery safely and correctly following appropriate training.
- Ensuring agreed product specifications and quality standards are consistently maintained.
- Identifying and reporting any quality, food safety or production issues to the relevant supervisor or manager.
- Maintaining a CAYG (Clean As You Go) attitude and ensuring your work area is clean, tidy and organised at all times.
- Following correct food safety, hygiene and sanitation procedures.
- Following traceability, labelling and stock rotation procedures.
- Completing production and quality paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
- Being audit-ready at all times and following company procedures and BRC requirements.
- Carrying out manual handling activities safely where required.
- Working closely with colleagues and other departments to maintain a steady flow of production.
- Supporting different production areas as required to meet the needs of the business.
- Bringing forward ideas and suggestions to improve processes, minimise waste and support continuous improvement.
- Following all Health & Safety, Food Safety and company policies and procedures.
The successful candidate will have to display:
- A strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain high quality standards.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- The ability to work independently and use your own initiative.
- The ability to work to timescales and deadlines.
- A willingness to learn new skills and work across different production areas.
- Basic PC skills and the ability to accurately complete electronic records and paperwork.
- Physical skills including movement, co-ordination and dexterity.
- The ability to carry out manual handling activities when required.
- A strong awareness of Health & Safety, Food Safety and hygiene requirements.
- A flexible approach to work and changing business requirements.
Previous experience working within a food manufacturing, factory or production environment would be advantageous, but full training will be provided to the right candidate.
