The Role:
As a Placement Draftsperson, you will play a crucial role in translating design concepts into precise technical documentation for our exhibition stands and scenic projects. Working closely with our Project Managers, clients, the Head of Fabrication, and our in-house workshop team, your responsibilities will include:
Design Interpretation: Working from initial sketches, client-supplied visuals, and technical specifications to develop accurate and practical designs that meet both aesthetic and structural requirements for exhibition stands and scenic elements.
Design & Build Method Collaboration: Proactively collaborating with the Head of Fabrication and the workshop team to agree upon optimal design and build methods. This will involve considering material efficiency, structural integrity, ease of assembly, and practical considerations for transportation and installation. You'll contribute to iterating design and construction options to achieve the best possible outcome.
Drawing for Outsourced Fabrication: Producing precise technical drawings specifically for external suppliers, primarily for metalwork fabrication, but potentially other specialist components for exhibition stands and scenic items. This will involve understanding various manufacturing processes and ensuring all necessary dimensions, tolerances, and specifications are clearly communicated for accurate production.
