Purpose of the job
This is an exciting opportunity to take accountability for one of our EMEA entities and be responsible for the accuracy of all transactions that take place within those ledgers, the timely completion of relevant analysis, and reporting to the standards set by Group control frameworks.
You will also be responsibility for the monthly management accounts, supporting notes, analysis and monthly balance sheet reconciliations. You'll work with external third-party accountants on compliance issues to ensure on time filings and compliance with the local country central authorities.
The role can be based on a blended / hybrid basis from any of our UK offices.
Key responsibilities
- Ownership of the ledger for a HH Global legal entity within the EMEA region (c60m EUR pa)
- Preparation of monthly Management Accounts for the entity in line with Group reporting calendar and deadlines
- Ensure the monthly P+L accurately reflects performance and that the balance sheet always accurately reflects the financial position of the companies
- Provide relevant analysis and commentary on key variances and trends
- Ensure the balance sheet for each company is fully reconciled on a monthly basis, ensuring accurate understanding and explanation of reconciling items
- Monthly calculation and reporting of KPIs and other reports with commentary
- Ongoing monitoring and reporting of cash flow, including forecasting and managing cash requirements.
- Ensure HH Global finance processes are followed, and our minimum control framework is fully adopted and adhered to including
- Monitoring and approval of Accounts Payable processing and payments
- Review and approval of Payroll processes; including monthly payment cycle and required local statutory submissions
- Monitoring of Accounts Receivable process accuracy and performance
- Proactive identification of business and financial risks and escalation to key stakeholders
- Work with the Group Finance and Tax + Treasury teams, as well as third party in country accountants and auditors to ensure timely and accurate completion of our local and Group statutory requirements
- Involvement in forecast and budget cycles, supporting business management particularly regarding local corporate overheads
- Act as liaison between local stakeholders and the Group and Regional finance teams, including query resolution, and undertaking ad hoc projects
Knowledge, skills + experience
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent professional accounting qualification (mandatory)
- Newly qualified or some post qualification experience in financial accounting, audit, or shared services
- Experience in a Big 4 or Top 10 accounting firm would be ideal
- Previous experience in a similar scale role and a track record of high performance
- Experience with relevant financial systems; including familiarity with financial ledger and reporting platforms
- Good understanding of general accounting processes and controls
- Sufficient understanding of general accounting and tax matters to act as an effective liaison between subject matter experts and business colleagues
- Excellent communication skills - able to clearly and concisely articulate relevant information to stakeholders and quickly grasp information provided
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across functions and geographies
- Organized and proactive - able to work independently and as part of a team
- Naturally curious - keen to expand understanding and to appropriately question established practices
